Won't Calm Down

It's about to get weirder... and louder. Probably gayer. Here, we rave loudly and unapologetically about what brings us joy, and we refuse to calm down. Happy to have you :)

When I was 23, I unexpectedly got diagnosed with OCD while seeking an ADHD and/or Autism diagnosis. I remember literally asking them "can you not diagnose me? I don't want that and I don't have it." I was... terrified. None of how I perceived myself matched how OCD had been portrayed to me for so long. I could think that, sure, I had to check the door was locked 3 times before I went to bed, or my anxiety could be a bit grand scheme and odd at times, but that's not enough for a diagnosis. A diagnosis is big, and it's scary. I then discovered how much OCD can impact your relationships, your perception of the world around you in little (paralyzing) ways.

I wish I had this book as a teen.

I wish I had gotten sucked in by my love of Ancient Greece and Percy Jackson and travel. And I wish I had realized, maybe a little earlier, maybe in softer way, why my brain was so hard to work with at times.
